In this age of fear and uncertainty, it can be hard to let our kids be kids. Worry over what could happen to them often prevents us, as parents from letting them do ANYTHING!
The truth of the matter is that our beautiful children need a safe place to test their wings. An environment where they can show they are trustworthy and to experience some independence - as well as just having fun!
The school disco is a fantastic opportunity for parents to allow their children to do just that. My own kids have not missed a disco since they started school and are off to one this weekend. Do I stay and hover over them to make sure they are safe? No. The school does a fantastic job of supervising them and they always have a blast.
I hope this is one Kiwi school tradition that will still be around for my grandchildren to enjoy.
